Notice of closure of St James’ Church – Monday 14th to Friday evening 18th July and Monday/Tuesday 21st -23rd July. This is necessary to facilitate the installation of new light fitments at high level throughout the church. Choir practice should be unaffected and the plan is for the 10.30 am communion service on Wednesday 16th July to be held in the North Chapel. Most of the church will be clear for near-normal use from Friday evening through Saturday and Sunday. Church watch duties are suspended for days of closure and resume on Wednesday 23rd July.

Prayer Focus

    • We give thanks for all in our two parishes who are so involved in our community life, with high levels of commitment. We pray that in all of this we will all be ‘salt’ and ‘light’ (Matthew 5: 13-16).
    • We pray for the family and friends of Sara Anne Clarke whose funeral takes place at St Eadburgha’s on Monday at 11 am. (Sara taught for a number of years at Ebrington School).
    • We continue to pray for Sarah Parker and all involved in work amongst our young people and children.
    • We continue to pray for our country, with the problems of knife-crime, debt and rising prices.
    • We continue also to pray for Zimbabwe and its future.

    Verse for the week

"Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." Matthew 11: 28-29
