Opening Times
The church is open daily and stewards are on duty at the following times:
Notice of closure of St James’ Church – Monday 14th to evening Friday18th July and Monday/Tuesday 21st -23rd July. This is necessary to facilitate the installation of new light fitments at high level throughout the church. Choir practice should be unaffected and the plan is for the 10.30 am communion service on Wednesday 16th July to be held in the North Chapel. Most of the church will be clear for near-normal use from Friday evening through Saturday and Sunday. Church watch duties are suspended for days of closure and resume on Wednesday 23rd July. We apologise to visitors hoping to see the inside of the church on the closure days, but for health and safety, as well as security reasons, it is not possible to allow this. The church will be open to visitors (limited viewing) on the evening of Friday 18th July from 4.00pm to 6.00pm, and as usual over the weekend. Visitors are welcome and the duty steward is available to answer any questions.A variety of literature, postcards etc is to be found on the table at the back of the church. Please be aware that the church does not receive any funding from the state and a monetary donation is very welcome. We suggest a minimum sum of £1 per adult is appropriate. If the visitor is a UK taxpayer the church is able to reclaim the tax so that a donation of £1 becomes£1.28 at no additional cost to the donor. To activate this facility please make use of the envelopes to be found by the box for donations. Thank you. |
